The General Labourer will be responsible to provide hands on support to the Assembly department and will be responsible for:
- Review drawings to identify parts for preparation.
- Ensure all components are available for final process.
- Inspect the quality of finished goods for flaws or defects and report any issues to immediate Supervisor.
- Plan the packaging process to ensure proper shipping materials are selected (skids, crates, boxes, paper wrap, foam wrap, etc.).
- Prepare worktable/work area for the packaging process.
- Clean part surfaces with provided cleaning solutions as required for the job.
- Assemble components as required on the drawings using hand tools and/or small power tools if necessary.
- Perform re-work as required to ensure parts fit together.
- Prepare packaging materials to the dimensions of the components being shipped.
- Wrap components with appropriate packaging material as required to protect final product.
- Count and sort smaller components as needed.
- Apply appropriate labels to products.
- Dispose of any waste created during assembly and packaging process.
- Assist in other departments as required.
THE SKILLSET:
- Able to use handheld tools or power tools as needed.
- Manual dexterity to sort or package small items like screws, nuts and bolts as needed.
- Use of one or both hands in the process of assembly or packaging of components.
- Work in a fast paced industrial environment.
- Able to lift, carry, push and or pull parts and components 1lbs to 30lbs in weight occasionally within a shift.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
- Good reading comprehension skills.
- Ability to plan workflow based upon final products requiring assembly and packaging.
- Ability to work independently on assigned tasks when needed.
- Ability to work well as a team member.
- High level of attendance.
- Team oriented.
