Electrical Drafting Technician

We're looking for an Electrical Drafting Technician to join our team. The Drafting team supports both Production and Sales to create customized low and medium voltage electrical and mechanical drawings to customer required specifications.

What will you do? 

• Work with Engineers and members from other departments to understand project requirements and translate into detailed drawings 
• Produce electrical drawings following drafting standards including wiring, control and power circuits within specified timelines using Autodesk AutoCAD and Inventor
• Perform electrical calculations
• Create parts lists/bills of material and data sheets for projects using Autodesk Inventor
• Create drawings to be sent to customers for approval
• Create drawings to be sent to external manufacturers for production
• Utilize job/service database (Autodesk Vault) to create efficiencies within the drawing production process 

What you bring to the position: 

• Post-secondary education in Electrical/Mechatronics Technology, Engineering, Drafting or related field 
• 2-3 years of experience in an Electrical Drafting position in a related field 
• Strong computer skills including working with Excel, Autodesk AutoCAD and Inventor 
• High attention to detail and accuracy when preparing drawings

The following would be an asset, but are not required: 

• Previous experience with low and medium voltage electrical design
• Knowledge of low and medium voltage distribution equipment such as transformers and switchgear
• Ability to understand complex electrical concepts
