About the Role
The Marine Electrical Technician Lead is responsible for leading a team in the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of marine electrical and electronic systems on new-build and refit vessels.
This role works closely with engineering, production, and other trades to ensure systems are installed safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities
- Lead, supervise, mentor, and coordinate a team of electricians and apprentices on assigned projects
- Install, test, and maintain marine electrical systems, including power distribution, lighting, control systems, and navigation equipment
- Troubleshoot and repair electrical and electronic faults on vessels
- Read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, and technical manuals
- Conduct inspections, QA/QC reporting, testing, commissioning, and sea-trial support as required
- Maintain accurate records of work completed, deficiencies, and materials used
- Coordinate with engineering and production teams to ensure proper system integration
- Ensure compliance with safety standards, marine regulations, and company procedures
- Perform procurement and ordering of electrical materials required for builds
Secondary Duties & Responsibilities
- Collaborate with electricians, shipwrights, welders, carpenters, plumbers, and project teams to ensure integrated system functionality
- Mentor apprentices and support trade development
- Enforce safety procedures and ensure compliance with WorkSafeBC requirements, company and industry regulatory standards and best practices
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
- Other duties as assigned to support project schedule and delivery
Qualifications:
- Diploma or degree in Electrical Engineering, Marine Electrical / Marine Engineering, or Industrial Electrical Technology
- OR a Red Seal Electrician certification (Canada)
- Additional marine-specific training is a strong advantage
- 5+ years in marine or industrial electrical environments
- At least 2 years in a leadership role (Lead, Supervisor, Foreman)
