ABOUT THE ROLE

The Resident Counsellor provides compassionate support and counseling to residents, their families, and caregivers at Hogarth Riverview Manor. This role helps individuals navigate the challenges of long-term care by offering emotional support, guidance, and resources that promote well-being, adjustment, and quality of life.

WHAT YOU BRING

Education/Experience:

• Degree or diploma in Social Sciences

• Active registration with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers

• Minimum of two years’ experience working with older adults

• Knowledge and experience in gerontology, Alzheimer’s disease, and related dementias

• Experience assessing client needs and determining eligibility for admission based on program criteria

Skills/Abilities:

• Experience in developing individualized care plans for residents

• Skilled in assisting, supporting, and advocating for residents and their families

• Ability to provide information, guidance, and education to residents, families, and caregivers

• Proven success working within an interdisciplinary team to create and implement service plans as needed

• Strong facilitation, communication, and teamwork abilities

• Demonstrated regular attendance at work

Conditions of Employment:

• This position shall be conditional upon a satisfactory Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC) where indicated, to ensure the absence of relevant criminal convictions.
• May be required to travel to various work locations and provide own transportation.
