ABOUT THE ROLE

Reporting to the Manager – Regional Rehabilitative Care Program (RRCP) the Occupational Therapist (OT) works within the Community-based Stroke Outreach Program and Regional Rehab Outreach Team to provide therapy (in person and virtually) through an outreach model of care. The OT role includes:

The Occupational Therapist will work within a regional team including, Physiotherapy and a Stroke Navigator. The team will also have support from the tele-speech Speech Language Pathologist as required.

Occupational Therapy is a regulated health profession that enhances quality of life, promotes participation in productive and meaningful activities of daily living, and empowers individuals allowing them to live life to the fullest by creating solutions that help people do what they want, when and where they want. They work with individuals of all ages whose ability to engage in daily activities has been hampered as a result of illness, chronic conditions, mental health issues, aging, and other health conditions. 

The OT is responsible for triaging referrals, assessing clients, and providing recommendations and treatment to address client goals and enable clients to maximize their level of independence in self-care, productivity and leisure activities. The OT will work as part of an inter-professional team and act as a consultant to other disciplines and outside agencies.
