OPPORTUNITIES ACROSS MULTIPLE AREAS

(full-time, part-time, temporary full-time, temporary part-time and casual positions vary across areas)

St. Joseph’s Hospital | 224 inpatient physical rehabilitation beds and 40 inpatient mental health rehabilitation beds. Outpatient services.

Hogarth Riverview Manor | Long Term Care including a Behavioural Supports Unit (480 beds), Community-based transitional care unit (32 beds) and acute care transitional care unit (32 beds).

Bethammi Nursing Home | Long Term Care with 92 beds.

Mino Ginawenjigewin | 24-hour crisis management and stabilization also known as withdrawal management. 25 beds, as well as 15 safe sobering beds.

Mental Health Supportive Housing | High and Medium support homes for people with severe or persistent mental health illness. Follows the Psychosocial Rehabilitation Model of Care.

St. Joseph’s Health Centre | Operating in McKellar/Victoriaville Mall, providing a range of programs and services including Chronic Pain Management, Project ECHO, Mental Health Outreach Programs, Dual Diagnosis, clinicians and client-centred programming.

The Lodge on Dawson | Transitional Housing for adults from all walks of life who are continuing treatment & rehabilitation for mental health and substance use issues. 4 stabilization beds and 26 transitional housing beds.

WHAT YOU BRING

Education/Experience:

  • Current registration or eligible for temporary registration as a Registered Practical Nurse with the College of Nurses of Ontario
  • Practical Nursing Diploma from a recognized educational institution
  • Must meet the qualifications to practice within the full scope of the RPN
  • Basic Life Support Certificate (BLS)

 

Skills/Abilities:

  • Excellent communication, leadership, critical reasoning and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated understanding and commitment to people-centered care
  • Computer proficiency, including Word and Windows, email communication and electronic documentation
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Recent physical assessment and pharmacology courses
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Evidence of continuing professional development experience
  • Demonstrated regular attendance at work

 

Assets:

  • Background in Comprehensive Geriatric Assessments and experience working with seniors considered an asset
  • Mental Health experience considered an asset and knowledge on the Psychosocial Rehabilitation Model of Care
  • Completion of Stroke Education module and care of neurological clients an asset
  • Rehab nursing experience working with clients with musculoskeletal disorders an asset
  • Membership in a professional association (i.e. RPNAO) is an asset
  • Certification relevant to practice setting (Gerontology, Palliative Care, Dementia), including training in P.I.E.C.E.S. ™ and Gentle Persuasive Approaches is an asset

 

Conditions of Employment:

  • This position shall be conditional upon a satisfactory Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC) where indicated, to ensure the absence of relevant criminal convictions.
  • Roles with Mental Health Supportive Housing, The Lodge on Dawson and St. Joseph’s Health Centre require a valid Ontario G Driver’s Licence with adequate insurance.

  • Unifor St. Joseph's Hospital: $38.640 - $39.170
  • Unifor Hogarth Riverview Manor: $34.183 - $35.695
  • SEIU Heritage (Bethammi Nursing Home) : $34.340 - $35.915
  • OPSEU: $34.86 - $35.30

 

Benefits and Vacation: 

  • Comprehensive total compensation package offered to all full time positions
