
Field Laborer

We are an industry leader in structural steel manufacturing and mechanical equipment supply and install. We are looking for an individual to join our team as a Field Laborer. We are looking for multiple individuals with varying skillsets.
Summary:
A field laborer’s duties primarily consist of physical labour on construction sites. The work may involve new construction, repairs, modifications or additions to structural steel and agricultural equipment. This position involves work away from home for short periods of time. Basic knowledge of general steel fabrication is an asset.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Follow instructions from site foreman and provide support to other team members
- Create, read and understand all job hazard assessments while following all applicable safety procedures and practices
- Operate hand/power tools (rigging equipment, drills, angle grinders, cutting torches)
- Ability to adapt and learn new tasks in order to progress the on-site workflow
- Load/unload construction materials as well as general site maintenance and clean up
Education, Experience, skills:
- General labour skills in the construction industry are an asset
- Welding certifications are an asset
- Millwright knowledge or certification is an asset
- Ability to work independently as well as with others
- Available to work extended shifts, night shifts and weekends when necessary
- Able to climb stairs/ladders and lift/carry 50lbs on a regular basis
- Certificates related to the steel industry or experience running equipment would be considered an asset
Compensation:
- Starting Salary $22 - $35 an hour depending on qualifications and experience.
- Overtime remunerated at 1.5x when applicable
- 6% vacation pay and 4% general holiday pay on each pay cheque
