ABOUT THE ROLE

St. Joseph's Care Group - Addiction Programs is seeking a Therapeutic Recreationist. As part of a multidisciplinary team, the successful applicant develops, organizes, and implements therapeutic and leisure life treatment plans and programs designed to assist individuals with mental health and/or substance use in order to attain an optimal level of health well-being.

WHAT YOU BRING

Education/Experience:

• Degree/Diploma in Therapeutic Recreation or equivalent combination of education and experience

• Registered with or demonstrated eligibility for registration with the Canadian Therapeutic Recreation Association or similar related associations and Therapeutic Recreation Ontario

• Specialized experience or certification required; i.e. Driver's Safety Course Current First Aid and CPR

Skills/Abilities:

• Experience in Therapeutic Recreation programming as it relates to programs offered within a multidisciplinary team

• Knowledge of mental health and addictions including crisis intervention skills

• Experience and demonstrated understanding of Indigenous Culture and Northern Communities

• Knowledge of addictions and familiarity with working in a residential setting including crisis intervention skills

• Experience working with individuals across the lifetime; e.g. youth adults and older adults

• Proven interpersonal group and teaching skills

• Demonstrated regular attendance at work

Conditions of Employment:

• This position shall be conditional upon a satisfactory Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC) where indicated, to ensure the absence of relevant criminal convictions.
• Valid Ontario driver’s license: Class G
• Ability to work flexible hours
