JOB SUMMARY:
The purpose of this position is to process payments for water utility services.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Maintains deposit file and determines customer’s eligibility for refunds; reviews weekly applied/eligible deposits.
- Pulls data from multiple sites to reconcile and maintains Excel spreadsheets to record and balance transactions daily.
- Responsible for a high volume of daily payment transactions; posts, processes, and reconciles cash drawers, electronic payment files, and batch payments to Customer Information System (CIS) and JDE, or other related systems.
- Researches and identifies misapplied/unapplied payments and credits daily to ensure all payments are applied against the appropriate balances or accounts.
- Enters all manual payment items into payment processing systems; prepares daily bank deposits; and coordinates with armored courier for pick up.
- Ensures all adjustments are documented with complete accuracy including all customer deposits, refunds, credits, and adjusted payments.
- Troubleshoots and resolves A/R transactions that may impact financial reporting; assists with daily reconciling of accounts
- Processes incoming and outgoing mail; determines appropriate postage amount.
- Reconciles daily payments posted manually and electronically including the preparation of journal entries and posting of all payment and credit receipts.
- Works with internal and external customers including banking relationships.
- Performs other assigned duties.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS TO PERFORM WORK:
- High school diploma or equivalent; one (1) year of related work experience in customer service, cashiering, or a related field; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
- Must be able to demonstrate proficiency in performance of the essential functions and learn, comprehend, and apply all CCWA or departmental policies, practices, and procedures necessary to function effectively in the position.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- This position classifies the physical exertion requirements as sedentary work involving lifting no more than 10 pounds at a time and occasionally lifting or carrying articles like docket files, ledgers, and small tools. Although a sedentary job is defined as one which involves sitting, a certain amount of walking and standing is often necessary in carrying out job duties. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required occasionally, and other sedentary criteria are met.
- Tasks involve carrying, pushing, and/or pulling of light weight objects and materials; tasks may also involve extended periods of time at a keyboard or workstation.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Essential functions are regularly performed without exposure to adverse environmental conditions.
- This position may also work out of other locations as well as HQ Office.
